The overall concept I am presenting for the show will split the set into three acts, this will provide a story arc right through the show until the big finish in the encore.
I wanted to include these theater technique's as I feel this style will complement Amy's performance and really bring the show to life on these big stages.
This concept is still in development and this presentation is intended to be a base for the structure of the show, generate feedback and provide direction for its development.
ACT I
The stage will be completely masked for supports. The first act will be reveal of the iconic "AMY SHARK" Backdrop hung mid-stage during the intro track.
Amy will then walk out to a very softly lit center Mic stand and wedges (probably not required as Amy is on ears but a good prop.) These will be wrapped in bud lighting just like the home studio) opening with "I'm a Lair" or "Worst Girl"
With the "Amy Shark" Kabuki drop in we also have have the crown lights in play. We will use these to light the start of "GOD" The semi transparent backdrop will give the ability light strobe-ing silhouettes of the players from behind on the drop in the heavy part of GOD.
ACT II
The next act is too drop the Kabuki in the opening chorus of blood brothers. revealing the whole set that will be used for the majority of the show
The Main elements of the set are - giant Lycra stretches that form an Abstract "AMY" - LED that frames the stretches - LED that frames the risers - spots that back light the stage with gobo. - JDC-1 Strobe wash that flood the upstage to downstage with light and color. - X4bar 20's that provide color shape and movement from behind the set. - 12x 2- lite audience blinders that provide warm explosions of light during all the stops and high moments. - 8x beam spots to provide shape and moment from just below the "Amy" set.
Feedback:
Please let me know if you like the set idea. I have drawn various different variations of how the cloth could look on stage but settled on presenting a kind of abstract "AMY" this will be sided with LED. Being an abstract "AMY" I think connects the piece to the show and the music rather than just being generic paneling. Thoughts?
Also I will get some samples of the colors and fabrics that this could be made out of, Personally I am thinking a gold and sparkly as we can get it.
ACT III - Encore
During Adore in the opening chorus the set will raise up revealing 5 huge force 120 fans for the final two songs. * If adore is final song of the main set we could open the encore with all loved up as the synth line is perfectly suited to a big lit fan look.
Further Clip of what fans look like in real life
FEEDBACK: Do you like this fan idea? This is going to work great at MCA and Riverstage but is going to need some work shopping for the Hordern as the roof over stage is only 6.5m and the piece still needs somewhere to travel.
If these problems are not solvable it may turn out we cut the fans from the Sydney show and fire the pyro from the floor.
end of encore
At the end of the encore the show will feature a pyro sparkle similar what was under the risers at the aria's show. These will be hung from the upsage now raised truss.
Final Thoughts and Ideas
I think we need an impact moment to end the first show before the encore This could be done with White confetti (recycled paper base) at the end of weekends to complete the first set before the encore.
Thank you for reading and please send me any and all feedback via email or call.
